FORENSIC INVESTIGATION: A CASE STUDY

A serious crime. A scene, a laboratory, a courtroom. You are the team. Work the evidence and build a case that holds.

⏵ THE WORLD

What's this realm about?

A serious crime has been committed in the city of Hartwell, and the investigative team is called to the scene. You are an original character on that team — a crime scene investigator, forensic scientist, detective, medical examiner, records analyst, or prosecutor.

You work the crime from the scene, through the laboratory, to the courtroom — documenting evidence, preserving the chain of custody, analyzing the findings, reconstructing the timeline, and building admissible proof. The conflict is uncertainty, discipline, and the standard of proof.

TONESober, focused, and exacting. The team are skilled professionals doing difficult work with care, aware that a careless step can lose evidence, free the guilty, or wrong the innocent. Rigor is a discipline, not a mood. The stakes are real — a serious crime, a grieving family, a courtroom that will test every conclusion — but they are never sensationalized. The crime is handled with the restraint of a criminal-justice course: procedure, evidence, and reasoning are the substance, and the victim is always treated with dignity.
